Oversees the management of the financial resources of the patient and family through the coordination of quality service delivery, working to ensure financial reimbursement of each individual case as required by third party payors.  The individual also is involved in the management relationships with payor and referral sources, the facilitation and coordination of the discharge planning process and serves as the patient and family advocate.  The individual directs and manages the coordination of the Case Management program with the Quality Management and Infection Control Departments and other departments as appropriate.  Collaborates closely with the area hospital administrators COO, CFO, CCO and Regional Office.

The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the direction and operational management of the peri-operative areas to include: Operating Rooms, Recovery Areas, Pre-Surgical Preparation Areas, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, and Business Office functions to achieve excellent care for the surgical patient.  This person is accountable for strategic planning, implementation, staffing, development of policies and procedures, evaluation of effectiveness of plans through quality, service, and financial performance analysis, and will serve as liaison to medical staff leadership to achieve strategic growth initiatives and attainment of patient safety and quality goals. This person supervises managers and support staff of the peri-operative areas and assures excellent working relationships and team-building within the areas and with key stakeholders in other service and business areas.

3-5 years prior experience in management of Surgical Services; MSN preferred,  BSN required; CNOR Certification preferred; Current BLS required

Utilizes diagnostic tools and metrics to analyze data, trends, and make recommendations to the VP of Professional Services. Preferred: Master’s Degree in business, finance or healthcare related field; Required:  Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological Science, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science.

Minimum Experience: At least 5 years of laboratory experience. At least 2 years leadership/management in laboratory services.

Is a positive reactor assuring new initiatives and practices are followed consistently without bias. Patient population is: Women in Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, Ante-Partum and Children in Newborn Nursery, NICU and Pediatrics.
